The One Golf Club You Can’t Seem to Replace

Every golfer has that club.
You know the one. It’s not necessarily the newest, shiniest, or most expensive club in your bag—but for some reason, it’s untouchable. Personally it was always a 3wd for me. Found 1 I liked and kept it for YEARS because nothing could touch it. I think I’ve found it again in the Taylormade Qi10 Tour Fairway. I don’t know if it’ll ever get replaced.
A lot of the time it’s a wedge for golfers. That sand wedge that you just can’t part with because “It gets me out of the sand! I love it!”. The grooves are worn, the face is rusty and it’s banged up but you love it. From a professional stand point this is the club you SHOULD REPLACE as often as possible! I get it though, sometimes you just find the one.
What’s interesting is that the club we’ve had the longest is rarely the driver.
Drivers get swapped regularly—distance, forgiveness, and tech upgrades are easy to justify. But that one club that sticks around usually plays a supporting role. It’s the club that gets you out of trouble, saves pars, or sets up birdie chances.
So what is it about that one club we never replace?
